In MF Edition 06, titled Are Art Book Fairs Viable?, we conducted a financial and logistical analysis of one of the most powerful yet exhausting pillars of our activity: independent book fairs. In this text, we put romanticism aside to calculate the profits after subtracting participation costs. We share our guerrilla management tools, such as using a unit weight Excel to optimize luggage to the gram and avoid stockouts, while reflecting on the need to set maximum budgets, dignify the work, and critically rethink a fair model.
